Japanese American Remembrance Trail Tour (in-person)

In the early 1900s, Seattle’s Japantown —Nihonmachi — stretched from 4th Avenue South to 23rd Avenue South, a bustling enclave of family homes and independently owned shops, grocery stores, and entertainment venues. In the aftermath of Pearl Harbor came Executive Order 9066 in 1942, which forced all persons of Japanese ancestry into concentration camps – Nihonmachi never fully recovered. This walking tour takes visitors through the past and present Nihonmachi.

Redlining Heritage Trail Tour (in-person)

Though many believe Seattle as a liberal city, the history of redlining and the road towards open housing has been a long struggle. The history of redlining and the Civil Rights movement in Seattle is necessary as we continue to explore themes of gentrification and displacement as time goes on. Take a walk with us to hear the stories of home, and to celebrate BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) communities that are currently and were historically marginalized in Seattle.
