Saturday December 17

2:30 PM  –  3:30 PM

How does your past define you and how do you walk in the world around you after facing traumas under extraordinary circumstances? The Japanese American community has had to reckon with this question after experiencing mass incarceration during World War Two. Resistance and standing up in defiance has always been a part of this story—in sometimes small, but profound ways.

Join us for a Gallery Guided tour of RESISTERS: A Legacy of Movement from Japanese American Incarceration where we explore movements of activism during World War II but also how those lessons carry on beyond the barbed-wired fences of incarceration camps and into the contemporary fights for justice. This hour-long tour will take a closer look at artists who address these connections in their pieces in the gallery space and share stories often untold about this moment in US history.
