Teaching local history through storytelling
Educators should bring an object, photo, or information about an historic place to the session, to learn about developing an object or place-based lesson with methods for building storytelling skills.
We will share strategies to:
- Improve Student Engagement
- Use deliberate movement strategies and place-based content to increase participation and active learning.
- Promote Critical Thinking
- Guide students in examining complex historical narratives using open-ended inquiry, peer collaboration, and problem-based learning.
- Gain Multicultural Perspectives
- Foster inclusive classrooms by embedding culturally relevant content and diverse voices into instruction, promoting equity and respect for all students."
Clock hours will be provided.
